A little bit HDR + post-processing filter reformatting = one very cool photo. Royce is so good at taking an idea I have and making it a reality. He’s so talented with the camera and with the editing, etc. I just come up with the great ideas. I, personally, do not have the patience to figure out how to do all the technical stuff!

Our private electrician taking a break from a hard days work, only to have his niece and nephews stand outside and throw rocks at him. Poor guy. It’s a good thing he’s so well paid or he might not do anymore work for us!!

This photo is so cool though – I love the way the HDR processing pulls all the detail out of every inch of the photo. It looks a little fake though doesn’t it??

This house is located on Main Street, Belton, TX. I thought it was hilarious and couldn’t stop staring at it so Royce snapped a photo. I can’t believe that someone would paint their house these colors. It’s attrocious and yet, at the same time, captivating. I’m slightly fascinated by it. And I love the way Royce processed it with HDR tricks.

I grew up in Small Town, TX. This is the local dry cleaning service that has been run by the same family for 20+ years now. Everyone in Belton, TX takes everything that’s worth anything to Pittman’s – and they do a great job cleaning laundry, preserving wedding dresses, etc. What is funny about this place is that I have heard stories of folks sending their wedding dresses from far off locations to Pittman’s for preservation and storage. I heard one story of someone sending a gown from Europe. That could be internet folklore but it’s good fodder none the less. Pittman’s Cleaner’s represents the best of the best, in my opinion, of small town businesses that tie a community together. I love this place. And if I lived in Belton, I’d take all my dry cleaning here. Because that is what makes one a “Beltonite.”  (Note the sarcasm.)

Recently, on a trip through town, Royce snapped this as we drove by the iconic business. He did a little HDR tweaking and I LOVE the results!  Very cool!

This photo was taken at Wildseed Farms in Fredericksburg, Tx. Royce was trying to get a nice shot of the center and so, naturally, Hannah and I successfully intervened. Royce has a habit of taking loads of photos of things he finds interesting. I find looking at family photographs that are missing family members to be quite tedious and boring. So I’m just doing my part to keep the family photos fun!

I love the look/feel of this photo having undergone some HDR post-processing.

This is Royce’s first attempt at HDR processing. I saw an interview with some guy from Austin who is publishing a book using this technique and I LOVE his photographs. I looked up his website (HERE) and talked to Royce about it and he has started tinkering around with the processing side of it. This photo is a “fake” HDR – meaning that it was simply a photo that we had on hand that Royce manipulated to get the HDR effect. I think it looks pretty awesome, personally. 

In September, Royce and I are taking a day to go on a photowalk in downtown San Antonio and take photos of things to be turned into HDR pictures. I can’t wait – I’m so excited about this style of photography. It’s completely awesome and I can’t wait to start doing family portraits with an HDR flare to them – I think they are going to be amazing!
