This is my favorite photo from the day we spent at Mission San Jose.

I don’t think it needs an explanation.

It’s beautiful. And haunting. And poetic. It’s just perfect. The clouds. The sky. The trees. The lawns. Everything. It’s just perfect. I love it.

Again. The lighting was really hard to tweak on this one. We were in a really large room at The Mission. If you look deep into the right corner you can see me - I was standing in the only window to the entire room. I imagined that, if I had been the Spanish version of Maria from Sound of Music - this is the room I would have stood in while Mother So and So sang “Climb Every Mountain”. Can you just see a large desk or something at the end of this large, ominous room, that seems to tell you, “I know all.”

Royce will probably kill me for posting these without his professional touch. But. I just couldn’t wait!

The lighting was kind of bad on this photograph, but I still liked it. It’s kind of grainy because I just used Picasa to adjust the fill light. I’m sure if Royce tweaked it up in Capture NX, it could be salvaged. But I still liked it anyway.

This was an obscure piece of wood just laying up against a wall. It looks like it used to be part of a ladder. Royce just “shot from the hip” on this one and it turned out really cool. I like the “LENS ANGLE”  HA HA HA … I am so funny.

Shot at the Mission San Jose in San Antonio. This used to be part of the Convent where the nuns/priests must have lived. It’s amazing to me to think that hundreds of years ago people were able to construct such pieces of architecture. I think this is a beautiful photograph.

I love this photo. I don’t know what else to say. I just love it.

Ean was 2 1/2 in this photo - he’s 8 1/2 now….

He was 2 1/2 and he was tired of taking photos at the Botanical Gardens. And so he was staging his revolt. I still think he looks adorable!! He’s 8 1/2 now!

I think Adri was about 15 months old or so. Maybe not even that old. I’d have to go find the negative sleeve to get the date and I don’t want to. Anyway we were at Salado Creek for an afternoon and we ended up letting him get into the water for playtime and Royce started snapping photos. There were several great candid shots, but this is one of my favorite.

Poor baby. Look how red his skin is. It isn’t the photo. He was cold!  The water was still really cold because it was in the spring! But he was so intent on collecting the rocks - and he was having so much fun. Thank goodness it was sunny too - he ran around in the sun for a while afterwards to thaw out…

You know why I like this? Because it has that burnt orange glow reminiscent of the University of Texas’ school colors! I don’t think Royce intended to do that - but it is how the photo turned out. And the use of lighting in this photo is really awesome - from my limited and untrained opinion!
