Chicago

I really wanted some intellectual photographs of Chicago that caught the urban feel to the city – but I wanted them to be really random shots. I didn’t know how to explain to Royce what I wanted. I actually didn’t even try. Frankly, I’ve never felt very comfortable around Royce when he has his camera out. Well – I do now – in 2008. But ever since he traded up his first … my first … camera – I’ve always felt very excluded from his photography. And he’ll be the first to admit that I was, in every way, excluded from his hobby. Until now. Now it’s different. But all that is for a different time – different place – different blog.
We were nearing the end of our vacation in the Windy City and I knew that Royce had only been snapping family photos. Kids and such. So I hastily and with a bit of courage to get over my meekness, asked him to take a photo of an alleyway we were walking past. I thought the skyscraper that you could see peering through the dark alley was just way too cool. And I wanted a picture of it. But I couldn’t communicate that to Royce and so I just said, “Take a photo – yes, of this. I know but just do it.”
So imagine my surprise when he just emailed me THIS PHOTO.
Isn’t it awesome!!??
It’s exactly what I wanted.

Hey Guys!
I am sooooo impressed on so many levels! Great photo shot…truly. Royce really is a great photographer…very, very talented. Sarah is pretty talented herself with a camera…always grabs great shots of her children, MY grandchildren —
And, I must say, I’m so amazed at how the things we want in life come about, eventually, with a little faith and a LOT of trust, patience, endurance, long-suffering…wait…someone said that before me I think
1Corinthians…amazing
Proud of you guys…you have no idea how much…
Big job! Gratulation!
